Wes Welker was not drafted after a career at Texas Tech and stands just 5’9” (very short for a receiver). In spite of this, he was still able to forge a pretty solid NFL career, with five Pro-Bowls. Welker is the one for whom this 2009 throwback team-issued game jersey was made. The Reebok accessory features a red “83” sewn on the front, sleeves and reverse in the same style (reverse also has “WELKER” sewn in that fashion). A “50th Anniversary AFL patch” decorates the left shoulder and blue/red piping lines both shoulders, indicating that the throwback-style jersey is part of a one-game tribute for the Patriots (October 11, 2009 vs Denver Broncos). The neck has “44” sizing tags and “09” manufacturing tags and the jersey presents in like-new condition and shows no game use.
