Don Heffner got the break he needed in 1938, when he was traded to the St. Louis Browns and was able to play more regularly (over 100 games per year) than he ever had as a Yankee. Heffner is the subject of this 1942 St. Louis Browns Game-Used Jersey. The Rawlings flannel zipper-down shirt features light to moderate game wear and has "BROWNS" sewn across the chest in the same manner as a "1" appears on the reverse. The left shoulder has a "HEALTH" patch affixed to it, and the left tail has "Heffner 42" sewn on. The neck is home to a "RAWLINGS 40" tag. The lot also includes a pair of size 34 game-used pants featuring moderate wear from the same year that may have belonged to Heffner as well, but has no definitive player identification.
