As Mid-Summer Classic fixtures like DiMaggio and Williams were rendered non-participants (thanks to military obligations) in 1943, the All-Star Game has an unfamiliar look on a couple of fronts. The first-ever installment to be played at night, the '43 exhibition was decidedly strange in that not one New York Yankee player made an appearance (New York skipper Joe McCarthy's response to public outcry of “Yankee favoritism”). The offered ticket stub was issued at Philadelphia's Shibe Park for that far-from-ordinary battle. Encapsulated and assessed VG-EX 4 by PSA, this bright-orange voucher is crease free and features red-white-and-blue banner and player likenesses, as well as printed seating and event legends and Connie Mack's facsimile signature.
