Detailed description on our website.
Photo fans come to attention for this vintage news service baseball photo. Executives and dignitaries joined baseball’s greatest hitter for a flag raising ceremony at Griffith Stadium in Washington DC in this inspiring image. Shown in an 8-3/4 x 6-1/2” press photo are from left to right Senator Frederick Gillett of Massachusetts, NL president John Heydler and (4) HOFers: Detroit Tigers centerfielder the immortal Ty Cobb, Senators team owner Clark Griffith, Senators player/manager “Bucky” Harris and baseball commissioner Judge K.M. Landis. Considering its ample age, this prestigious photograph presents handsomely with moderate wear, worthy of a respectable (VG-EX) designation. Reverse side provenance appears in the form of a Pacific & Atlantic Photos credit stamp, a 6/15/25 date stamp and the penciled notations Stanley Harris and B.B.P., which most likely stands for “baseball photo”. Also included but detached, is the original accompanying press blurb dated 6/11/25, with the title “Griffmen Hoist First World Title Flag At Washington”.
