Detailed description on our website.
Rarities chasers will want to climb all over this one. More than a century ago, the original Washington Senators franchise was commonly referred to by the nickname “The Climbers” by the local DC media. Offered is an extremely scarce 1912 postcard credited to the “National Photo Company, Washington, DC.”, featuring the Senators top battery of Walter Johnson and Eddie Ainsmith. Titled “The Climbers”, this nicely preserved antique is unused save for the single word “Baseball” written in ink on the reverse. Though moderate corner wear and a corner crease at bottom right limit this postcard to a (VG-EX) rating, this handsome keepsake presents nicely with a clean, glossy photo and off-white borders. Incidentally, “the Big Train” had a banner year in 1912, racking up a 33-12 pitching record while out-slugging battery mate Ainsmith with twelve extra base hits and a .264 average.
