Description

LIFE magazine illustrator Charles Dana Gibson, creator of the archetypal "Gibson Girl," made famous a pair of baseball caricatures titled "Two Strikes" and "Fanned Out"—which Giants owner Charles Stoneham then used for his 1930 and 1931 season passes. This second example features 3 raised-relief spectators in distress under the embossed heading "FANNED OUT." It measures 1-3/4 x 1-1/4", is manufactured in sterling by the NY-based Lambert Bros. firm, and is engraved with the recipient's name on the reverse, "Jean Wilson / 358." EX condition.
