LIFE magazine illustrator Charles Dana Gibson, creator of the archetypal "Gibson Girl," made famous a pair of baseball caricatures titled "Two Strikes" and "Fanned Out"—which Giants owner Charles Stoneham then used for his 1930 and 1931 season passes. This first example features 3 raised-relief spectators on the edge of their seats under the embossed heading, "2 OUT / BASES FULL / 3 BALLS / 2 STRIKES." It measures 1-3/4 x 1-1/4", is manufactured in sterling by the NY-based Lambert Bros. firm, and is engraved with the recipient's name on the reverse, "Jean Wilson / 370." EX condition.
