The 1981 Los Angeles Dodgers got to the World Series on the coattails of “Fernando Mania” as their young Mexican hurler won both the Cy Young and Rookie of the Year Awards. The team featured a number of solid players besides Valenzuela, and won the Fall Classic over the Yankees four games to two behind solid play from Cey, Guerrero and Yeager (amongst others). This limited edition (26/81) 1981 World Championship bat Louisville Slugger features (29) pennings from members of that team. The slab of lumber has “25th Anniversary” etched into the barrel and was presented to Alejandro Pena by the front office as a part of 2006 festivities related to the celebration of the aforementioned team. Signatures include: Bobby Castillo, Ron Cey, Mark Cresse, Pepe Frias, Terry Forster, Steve Garvey, Pedro Guerrero, Jay Johnstone, Ken Landreaux, Tommy Lasorda, Bobby Mitchell, Rick Monday, Manny Mota, Tom Niedenfuer, Danny Ozark, Alejandro Pena, Jack Perconte, Ron Perranoski, Jerry Reuss, Bill Russell, Steve Sax, Dave Stewart, Derrell Thomas, Fernando Valenzuela, Gary Weiss, Bob Welch, Steve Yeager, two unidentified. Comes with an MLB Authentication sticker.
